A broken neck brought Ray Stevens’ world to a sudden halt. At eighty-seven, the beloved entertainer faced another frightening setback after surviving heart trouble the year before, leaving fans desperate for reassuring news. But as details emerged from Nashville, fear gave way to an unexpected development involving his recovery, his music, and a decision that left admirers genuinely stun…
Ray Stevens suffered a serious fall at his home on March 29, requiring a brief hospitalization in the Nashville area. An April 7 update brought reassurance: despite a fractured neck, his team said he remained mobile and in good spirits. He returned home with instructions to rest and wear a neck brace for about a month. The accident followed a difficult 2025, when a heart attack and subsequent surgery had already tested the veteran performer’s strength.
Yet his recording career continued. Favorites Old & New, a 13-track collection of classics and fresh material, arrived April 10 through Curb Records as planned. Stevens had returned to the studio during his earlier recovery to complete the project. Now, healing takes priority, with performances postponed and no firm date for a stage comeback. For listeners, the album offers something quietly moving: familiar warmth from an artist navigating another difficult chapter, without surrendering his connection to music.
