Several armed robberies reported overnight in Northside neighborhoods, including one in South Loop
Several people were victims of armed robbers overnight in North Side neighborhoods including one victim in Chicago’s South Loop neighborhood, Chicago police said.
The robbers were traveling in a dark-colored sedan, and in some of the robberies, the robbers got violent with the victims.
The first robbery happened shortly before 1 a.m. in the 1900 block of West Wolfram Street in the North Center neighborhood.
A 78-year-old man was outside taking a walk when he was approached by six robbers who demanded his belongings. He complied but several of the robbers struck the victim before fleeing in a dark sedan, police said.
The victim was taken to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center where he was listed in good condition, police said.
Around 1 a.m., another robbery happened in the same neighborhood, and the Lakeview neighborhood, police said.
A 20-year-old man and a 19-year-old woman were walking in the 4000 block of North Lincoln Avenue when they were approached by four robbers armed with handguns whom demanded the victims belongings. They complied and the robbers fled in a dark-colored sedan, police said.
About 1 a.m., a 32-year-old woman was walking in the 2800 block of North Lincoln Avenue in the Lakeview neighborhood. when she was approached by four male robbers and a female robber. Two of them were armed.
The crew of robbers demanded her personal belongings and she complied, but one of the robbers hit her on the head before fleeing in a dark sedan. The woman refused medical help when an ambulance was called to the scene, police said.
Shortly after 1:15 a.m., a 66-year-old man was robbed in the North Center neighborhood in the 4400 block of North Lincoln Avenue.
The victim was walking when he was approached by four robbers, one armed with handgun, who demanded his belongings. He complied and the robbers fled in a dark-colored sedan, police said.

Shortly after 1:30 a.m., two women, both 32, were walking in the 300 block of West Webster Avenue in the Lincoln Park neighborhood when they were approached by armed robbers who demanded their belongings. They complied but were struck before the robbers fled in a dark-colored sedan, police said. Both women refused medical help.
Shortly after 1:25 a.m., two women, both 28, were walking in the 1600 block of West Wilson Avenue in the Uptown neighborhood when they were approached by armed- four robbers. The robbers told the women to hand over their personal belongings and they complied, but were battered before the robbers fled in a sedan, police said.
The last reported North Side robbery happened around 1:40 a.m. in the Lakeview neighborhood in the 3000 block of North Clark Street.
A 36-year-old man was walking when he was approached by four armed-robbers whom demanded his belongings. He complied and the robbers fled in a dark-colored sedan, police said.
Shortly before 2 a.m., a 42-year-old man was robbed in the South Loop neighborhood in the 800 block of South Michigan Avenue. Four robbers approached him as he was walking and demanded his belongings before fleeing in a dark-colored sedan, police said.
Chicago police did not say the robberies were committed by the same group of robbers, but all of the robbers fled the scenes iin a dark-colored sedan.
No one was in custody, and detectives were investigating.
