Woman dead in hit-and-run Thursday night in Washington Park neighborhood

A woman was killed Thursday night in a hit-and-run accident on King Drive in the Washington Park neighborhood, Chicago police said.

The woman was discovered unresponsive and in the middle of the road shortly after 10:45 p.m. in the 5900 block of South King Drive, police said. She was taken to UChicago Medicine where she was pronounced dead.

An investigation revealed the woman was struck by a vehicle that fled the scene. The woman was not in a crosswalk when she was hit, police said.

As of Friday morning, the woman had not been identified.

Detectives were investigating.
