Woman from Kangra confirmed swine flu case

A 59-year-old woman was tested positive for swine flu on Sunday after her blood samples were tested at Indira Gandhi Medical College (IGMC) Shimla. The woman has been admitted at Dr Rajendra Prasad Medical College, Tanda ( Kangra) with symptoms of swine flu.

Senior medical Superintendent IGMC Dr Ramesh Chand confirmed that patient’s samples have confirmed the H1N1 virus.

“We have passed on necessary instruction’s to the doctors treating the patient. Patient appears to be a local resident.We had only received the samples for confirmation,” he said.

This is first case which has been tested positive at Himachal Pradesh ‘s premier medical college.

Senior health officials informed that the state government has already taken precautions. All Chief Medical Officers in the districts have been asked to keep sufficient stock of medicines and follow proper protocol for treatment of suspected cases.
