A young boy named Tommy had always accompanied his grandmother to church every Sunday. But one particular Sunday was different: it was time for him to make his very first confession.
Before entering the confessional, his grandmother gently explained what he needed to do.
“You simply tell the priest the things you’ve done wrong, and he will listen and guide you,” she told him.
A little nervous but determined, Tommy entered the small wooden booth.
“Bless me, Father, for I have sinned,” he whispered.
The priest smiled warmly. “Go ahead, my son. What have you done?”
Tommy began listing his little mistakes.
“I took a pencil from school, said a bad word, and lied to my mother.”
The priest nodded patiently.
“Everyone makes mistakes, Tommy. Is there anything else?”
The little boy suddenly remembered something.
“Oh, yes! I threw my sister’s Barbie doll out of the window and told her it had run away!”
The priest struggled to keep a straight face.
“Anything else, my son?”
Tommy thought for a moment before revealing one final secret.
“Last night, while Grandpa was sleeping, I put toothpaste on his dentures!”
This time, the priest could barely hide his amusement.
After regaining his composure, he gently told Tommy:
“Well, my child, say three Hail Marys and promise to try to behave a little better.”
And just like that, Tommy’s first confession became a moment that nobody in the family would forget anytime soon!
