Man dies after being struck by Metra train in Midlothian
A man was killed Friday morning after being struck by a Metra train while trying to cross the tracks to catch a train in Midlothian, officials said.
At 7:36 a.m., when outbound train 403 headed toward Joliet was scheduled to arrive in Midlothian, the man was struck, said Metra spokeswoman Meg Reile.
The man purchased a ticket at the station shortly before the crossing, Reile said.
Trains were stopped for about an hour, Reile said, as the Cook County medical examiner’s office and Metra police responded.
